Updates

  • Thank you for taking the time to make a report.

National Highways take safety seriously and it is our top priority to keep us safe as well as our customers. From 1 October each year we receive a specific winter forecast provider that provides us with a service 24/7. National Highways receive the forecast at mid-day and an update at 18:00 daily throughout the winter period, up until the end of April. The forecast is monitored 24 hours a day by our Regional Operations Control Room decision makers and verifiers.

On 28 November we carried out a full treatment of the M180. As well as the main carriageway all slip roads are treated with salt. There was a further treatment in the early hours of the morning of the 29th. We carried out further treatments of the M180 at 13:00 on the afternoon of the 29th. The gritters remained on patrol for the rest of the evening and into the morning as directed by our Regional Operations Centre, due to the forfast they had received at 12:00 that afternoon. The drivers are experienced drivers and were treating the M180 as conditions dictated throughout the 24hr period.

Thank you again for getting in touch and I hope the above answers your enquiry.

    Kind regards National Highways
