Cycle route • Ivybridge

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath issue (NH) category anonymously at 07:49, Tue 21 November 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5235420.

This is the email I sent to ivybridge town council re. the matter:

Hello ivybridge town council, I don't know if this is your concern, or maybe you could forward it on to the relevant person(s) if not. I would like to ask if the cycle route heading all the way along from lee mill alongside the a38 to ivybridge could get a regular clean during the winter especially now it is dark in the morning time and soon to be in the late afternoon. there is always a lot of organic debris in the path and sometimes glass + there have been brambles hanging from the trees.

Also the little stretch along from the dcw place and along by the hunting lodge pub is a horrible bit of road and has been for years now with so many holes, and the tarmac is in a very bad state.

It would be nice if the small treelined alleyway as part of the cycle path at smithaleigh could get a regular clean too as that is always full of leaves, + it's very dark in there.

On the road down to the lyneham pub (also as part of the cycle route) in one particular area on/ near the bend in the road, the drainage flows across the road there. it's bad when it's wet, and in the winter this can get very icy. could the draining here be looked at too, please.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

The local authority is responsible for clearing the carriageway and footpath on this road. We also believe that they're responsible for the road leading to the Lyneham pub.

Please contact them to resolve this issue. Contact details for local authorities can be found by using the search facility at:

    www.gov.uk/find-local-council

We're responsible for cutting back the vegetation on the cycleways/footpaths and this is done twice yearly. We recently carried out siding of the footway at Smithaleigh and will be carrying out work on the Lea Mill Eastbound section in the early part of the new year.

The potholes at Hunting have been filled.

If you require any further information please contact our Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk, or visit our website at www.nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards
