Updates

  • Thank you for you email of 16 November 2023 requesting signs on the A616 asking drivers not to throw litter from their cars. We understand litter is a social problem across the country and appreciate you taking the time to contact us with your request.

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, we’re responsible for litter collection on motorways and some trunk roads. Local authorities manage litter collection on the rest of the roads in England. We're not responsible for litter or litter collection on the A616 so you would need to contact Sheffield City Council via https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/ with your request for signs at this location.

Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind Regards

    Gemma
