Culvert under the road

Reported via desktop in the Flooding/drainage (NH) category anonymously at 16:48, Thu 2 November 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5167750.

I am the Senior Drainage Technician for Leicestershire County Council and we have had multiple incidents of flooding on Sketchley Lane, Burbage - just off the A5 roundabout, over the last 3 weeks. This has resulted in vehicles becoming submerged in water and employees being trapped in their work places. We re aware that there is a watercourse that flows underneath the A5 and have been advised that around 3 years ago, National Highways cleared this.

Due to insurance claims coming from the flooding incident, I would like to see if we can discuss this issue and whether you are aware of the problem. In particular whether you are able to maintain and remove any obstructions that may be under the A5 that may be causing our gullies on Sketchley Lane to back up.

Today is 2nd November 2023 and the road has flooded again causing access issues for the industrial estate.

Thank you.
