Section of lights not working at junction 1

Reported via iOS in the Not working (NH) category anonymously at 13:17, Mon 30 October 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5153287.

Thank you for your previous response, copied below, however these lights don’t seem to fall into that category. It is a section approximately 500m long, bounded on both sides by working lights and covers a stretch of road where two lanes merge into one at the end of the motorway and the westbound slip road of junction 1 also merges, so should be lit for safety reasons.

Previously reported response. The M65 is mainly unlit to help us support the aims of the Department for Transport to reduce carbon emissions by switching off lighting on carefully selected stretches of motorway. Sites have been chosen where there is a good safety record.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report about faulty street lighting at the exact location your provided. We're aware of the issue here and are currently investigating. If any work is needed, they will arrange for this to happen. Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

    Kind regards National Highways
