Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us regarding this issue.

We have assessed the current condition of the markings at this roundabout and have discovered that in addition to the need for us to renew the road markings at this location, there is also some wear and tear to the road surface which needs to be addressed.

The high friction surfacing has worn away in places, which has resulted in some of the older directional arrows showing through. To fully address this issue, we will need to remove this surfacing and the older road markings underneath, then reapply the high-friction surfacing material and renew the road markings.

As you can appreciate, this work will need to be prioritised against the ongoing needs of the network. We are also reviewing the current layout of these markings to understand whether there is any opportunity for us to make any changes or improvements as part of any renewal works. This will include your suggestion of including ‘left turn only’ or similar as part of the markings in lane 1. This process is still at an early stage; however, we are continuing to closely monitor this situation in the meantime.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
