Lights on during the day

Lights on the slip road to exit the m66 at junction 1 remain on during the day. Also some on the slip road have stopped working.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about lighting on the M66 J1.

    We have switched off lighting on stretches of the M66 carriageway to support the Department of Transport’s aim to reduce carbon emissions. These roads have been carefully chosen with all road users safety considered. We are still using road lighting where it is needed and will continue to monitor this. We may restore the lighting if the situation changes.

    We'll inspect the lighting on the slip road which remains lit during the day. The inspection will be carried out within the next 10 working days and we'll arrange for any necessary repair to be carried out.
