Only 2 very dim lights working

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5112954.

Underpass is extremely dark and unsafe. It’s used for school children and to access the park and is a major thoroughfare for residents. With the darker days it’s now unsafe and needs addressing urgently. The lights have been broken for over a year.

It is constantly flooded even after light rain, tiles missing and graffiti

  • Thank you for reporting your concerns about the condition of Washington Road underpass.

    We're aware of the lack of working lights, but due to the extensive vandalism of the lantern units we're unable to initiate a quick fix. As such, a scheme to fully replace the underpass lighting is being progressed by our lighting team.

    Regarding the flooding we're currently awaiting on quotes from our maintenance providers to address this issue.

    Any other issues such as non offensive graffiti removal will be addressed when the underpass is closed for the required drainage works in due course.
