Litter, vegetation & old cones/tyres both ways between jct 3 & 4 in the central reservation

Reported via mobile in the Main Carriageway (NH) category anonymously at 10:10, Sun 1 October 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5048850.

On the central reservation, between jct 3 & 4 M20, there is lots of litter, mud, old tyres, cones etc, which are also blocking the drains & probably not helping with flooding.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the central reservation between junctions 3 and 4 of the M20.

We are planning work on the Central reservation in the future to clear litter, vegetation, and redundant traffic equipment at this location.

This will require lane closures either side of the London bound and coastbound carriageways and maybe included within another maintenance scheme to minimise road disruption.

Littering by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can. Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people. Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow. To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
