Pothole slow Lane M5 Southbound just before A40 junction

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5027548.

Deep pothole before A40 junction on the M5 southbound in the slow lane, passenger side. Unavoidable in heavy traffic. I hit it hard yesterday driving at approx 65mph Sunday September 24th at around 3.00pm. Looks like it’s been there a while and has been reported numerous times already. I stopped at the next services, 5-6 miles further on to check wheel and tyres. Passenger side front tyre damaged with blister. Need to check alloy wheel as potentially damaged. Photographs taken.

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the pothole on the M5.

    Our Inspection team has been to site to assess the pothole and repairs are due to be undertaken over the next couple of months as part of a patching programme.

    In the meantime we'll monitor the area on our weekly safety inspection and should this defect deteriorate further the repair will be prioritised.
