Vertical crack in abutment

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 13:55, Tue 19 September 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5010003.

On the east abutment adjacent the canal towpath there is a continuous vertical crack and slight swelling of the concrete. At a low level, the concrete surface has spalled away. There is clear evidence of water penetration from the carriageway above. It would appear the internal steel reinforcement has corroded. I have a photo.
