Sompting Road/A27 junction still temporary lights 2 years on!

Reported via mobile in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 21:05, Mon 18 September 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5007731.

This junction has been seemingly completed for nearly a year now and has had temporary traffic lights installed for over 2 years, it’s causing havoc at busy times as they are not linked to the set (which was completed last year) just down the road as they were before works began! 2 year is very much too long and nobody has been working on them for over a year, have they been forgotten?!

Updates

  • Thank you for your report about the continuing presence of the temporary traffic lights and we're sorry for the continued disruption and congestion being experienced.

During our scheme to replace the lights at Sompting Road and Lyons Farm an uncharted underground cable was discovered which requird investigation by UKPN.

UKPN are onsite this week carrying put their investigations and once completed we can then return to complete the installation and commissioning of the permanent traffic lights. We hope that all will be completed by the end of October.

Thank you for your patience at this time.

    Kind regards
