Concrete spalling

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 10:49, Sun 17 September 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 5001961.

Concrete is spalling and re-bar exposed in several places on the abutment walls underneath the M54 bridge, where the motorway passes over Waterloo Road, a short distance east of the off-slip from the westbound carriageway at Junction 6. Some sections at the very top of the eastern abutment, near the northern end, look likely to fall in the near future and appear to have dropped small pieces onto the walkway used by pedestrians and cyclists.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways.

We would like to confirm that we've visited the area and the structure was made safe. There was loose concrete removed but it was mainly at low levels. We hope that this improves any future experience you have using this road.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
