Bottom Island by Low Bridge - Traffic Lights

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 08:48, Tue 12 September 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4984144.

The traffic lights are not on green long enough, causing a back log to the top island by the A5/A34 Entrance, as the A5 Traffic is coming around the island and then stopping as they can't see the queue, which then blocks the A34 junction onto the island which is causing a big queue down the A34 into Great Wyrley. Trying to get onto the island from from A34 is impossible at present, it taking approx 15 minutes to get through the queue and onto the island all because the bottom island traffic lights have been changed to a short sequence. Please make the light green for longer on the island to keep everything flowing.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report regarding the traffic lights in this area. We're aware of these issues with the traffic lights in this area. Unfortunately, the sensors in the road were damaged while we were undertaking resurfacing, which means the lights are not currently running at the correct timings. We were hoping to get these issues fixed in August when we were in the area, but unfortunately, the work had to be stopped due to an emergency. We're due to return to the area, by the end of September, to complete the resurfacing and once this work is complete the traffic lights will operate as they previously did.

    Kind regards
