Highway Maintenance Van BF71 FCA Honking Horn at Women

Reported via mobile in the Abandoned Materials (NH) category anonymously at 16:19, Wed 6 September 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4965916.

On Tuesday 15th August at 18:15, Highway Maintenance van BF71 FCA honked at me twice while passing by, as I was walking on Histons Hill in Codsall (52.624707, -2.195786).

There was no justifiable reason to honk. This was simply a sexist and invasive act. Does National Highways find this behaviour acceptable?

Updates

  • I'm sorry for the issue you encountered while walking down the road. Anyone using a vehicle that is used for work purposes or stopping on any highway or high-speed road require markings to meet Chapter 8 requirements. These will be fluorescent chevron markings and highway maintenance written on the rear. Unfortunately, this would mean it could be a number of different people such as local authority work, utility companies, developers, traffic management suppliers, etc.

National Highways vehicles will usually have our logo displayed on the side to show that it is one of our vehicles.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
