Overgrown bushes, rubbish and kitter

Reported via mobile in the Pavement/footpath issue (NH) category anonymously at 13:43, Thu 31 August 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4945191.

Hi, since March of this year, I have been trying to get Bury council to attend the widely overgrown hedges at the top of Kenilworth Avenue and adjacent to the M60 motorway. Junc of Bury old road Whitefield. They have only recently informed me that the place in question falls under your responsibility. I will highlight what I have taken time previously reporting to them. Reduction in footpath width causing people walking to walk in the rd. this includes people with children. I have also witnessed an elderly person slip on dead rotting vegetation. A local resident has taken it upon himself to cut back the bushes due to a bush with thorns on it swiping his baby boys face and scratching him. Fortunately, I’m not aware of any serious affects of the accidents above however, as we move closer to winter it would be good to remove any potential. I’m sure you will agree also that it’s completely wrong for a resident to take a saw to it. I would politely ask that the hedges be cut back so that the full width of the footpath can be safely used and hopefully doing so will negate the need for it to be done for a decent n period of time
