Multiple lights not working

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4933179.

Hi so this a request really would it possible for the m55 to be lit up around j1 as it can get quite busy and i think streetlighting would really help herr. It can be quite dark coming of the motorway so lighting here would be beneficial. If you have no plans to replace the lighting perhaps remove the street lighting columns? Thank you

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the streetlights.

    We have switched lighting off on this stretch of road to support the Department of Transport’s aim to reduce carbon emissions. These roads have been carefully chosen with all road users safety considered. We are still using road lighting where it is needed, however, we are confident that we can use less of it without a significant impact on safety. We will continue to monitor this and may restore the lighting if the situation changes.
