Abandoned traffic cones

Reported via mobile in the Flytipping (NH) category anonymously at 17:38, Thu 24 August 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4924708.

Somebody has left all their traffic cones all over Lane 1! They must not have noticed because they've been sitting a good few months.

Those cones are obviously not there for roadworks, as no workers have ever been spotted.

It's almost as though the culprit doesn't care about the extra pollution it's causing when traffic builds up because of it. You would think that people would be more considerate these days!

  • Thank you for submitting this report.

A lane closure on this section of the M3 was implemented so we could investigate and temporarily repair lane 1 road surface depressions that were identified following routine inspections, and were considered potentially safety critical. These initial investigations have confirmed road depressions and associated voiding in lane 1 but required more detailed ground radar surveys to establish if any further voiding existed. The current lane 1 closure is required to protect the safety of the travelling public and also to permit specialist surveys and investigations to be undertaken to allow a repair scheme to be developed and constructed. We are unable to provide an update of the timeframe for when the lane 1 can be safely re-opened until the survey works have been completed and a repair scheme progressed. We apologise for any inconvenience that this delay may cause.

    Kind regards National Highways
