Trees and Stag horn bush

Field maple trees are now almost overhanging my garden fence there are brambles and stag horn bush growing behind my own garden fence

  • Thank you for your report concerning overgrown vegetation.

    We have a wide network of trees and vegetation to manage across the south of England and therefore with a limited budget we are required to concentrate our efforts on customer safety and tree health. Trees blocking sunlight, leaf fall, seeding or bird droppings are not included within these requirements.

    As part of our maintenance programme, we won’t cut back healthy trees or trees that aren’t deemed a safety risk. Only dead, damaged or trees that are considered a safety risk will be maintained as part of our maintenance survey inspections.

    However, should you choose to reduce any vegetation intruding onto your property, then legally you are entitled to reduce this vegetation within the boundary of your property without requiring permission.

    Should you have any safety concerns about vegetation which maybe on National Highways land, then please contact us directly providing your name, address and pictures of any vegetation overhanging onto your property. We’ll be able to look into this matter further.
