Lights stuck on red in the morning

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4922353.

These lights are stuck on red in the mornings exiting the A1 northbound, when then attemptiong to enter the roundabout to go on either straight ahead or turn right. This has been the case since at least Monday. cars are having to enter the roundabout when the lights are on red.

  • Still an issue and has been ongoing for 2 weeks now- needs to be fixed. Extremely dangerous on a morning.

  • Still a problem at 08.20 this morning. Very unsafe, very busy junction at this time in morning. Woukd be safer to switch all lights off on roundabout to enable motorists to treat it as Give Way rather than traffic off A1 sliproad taking their lives in their hands. All other lights work OK, which is why it's dangerous.

  • The lights were still stuck on red at 9.10 this morning.

    I got in touch with National Highways who manage the roundabout last week and I also made Northumbria Police aware of the problem. I have been informed that the issue is being investigated by the relevant team in National Highways.

  • This is not just a morning issue, and has been like this most of the afternoon today backing traffic onto the A1. This is also not a new issue and has been happening for a few years, of an on, most of us locals wait a few minutes and then go through on red. However non locals will sit and sit and sit because they are afraid to go through the lights on red causing huge queues.

  • Lights at the roundabout from A1 slip road south turning right towards A69 , changes to green fir 10 seconds , 8am been like this all week , accident waiting to happen , cars are queuing on A1 to get onto the slip road at Denton towards Hexham
