Uneven surface

Reported via desktop in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 13:17, Thu 17 August 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4901642.

A3 heading towards the Hog's Back, after the Wooden Bridge, left hand lane, before rising to go over the roundabout: the road is uneven, as if settling/sinking in places, throws the car about, must be worse for bikers. It's probably known and being watched, but perhaps lower the speed limit, and add road signs to warn - especially those who do not know the road.

Updates

  • Agreed, terrible and getting worse. I think, ooh, I must be speeding and realise I'm doing 50mph and getting thrown about.

  • I use this road daily and would say the subsidence is getting worse, which in turn throws vehicles vertically around creating greater compression impact to the road surface.

  • I use the road regularly and agree that subsidence is getting worse. On the south bound carriageway towards Petersfield/Portsmouth the subsidence was previously more noticeable on the near side/left lane of the 2 lanes. Driving through there today, the other lane is also showing signs of deterioration
