Fly tip/litter pick

Reported via iOS in the Flytipping (NH) category anonymously at 14:34, Sun 6 August 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4863467.

Volunteers have been out and picked behind the hedgerow on Grange Mill Lane. It seems Highways have cut holes into the hedge, and along the back of the hedge and exposed lots of litter and fly tipping. We decided to give them a hand by bagging all the litter and putting all the fly tipping in a pile. Bottom of Grange Mill Lane, there’s a hole in the hedge which is where we left the rubbish for easy collection by National Highways.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report on 6 August 2023 regarding litter in and around Grange Mill Lane, parallel with the M1. We appreciate the time you've taken to contact us about this.

We're grateful for the help your group of volunteers have extended to us in clearing the litter in this location. We can advise that we'll be attending and collecting this litter as soon as possible. In addition, safety is National Highways top priority, and while we appreciate the work you've all carried out, we also want to ensure you all remain safe and unharmed in the process, particularly next to the busy carriageway. Please ensure volunteers remain behind the hedgerow so as not to encroach on the carriageway. To go beyond the hedgerow is considerably dangerous and we want to ensure that everyone can go home safe and well.

Once again, we're very appreciative of your efforts to help us clear litter in this area and thank you for getting in touch with us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards, National Highways
