Lack of signs
Reported via mobile in the Sign Obscured (NH) category anonymously at 18:04, Sun 6 August 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4863204.
Dangerous corner where temporary lights are, no signs to slow down. I was sat in the corner and a van came round and had to swerve on to other side of road to avoid hitting me as I was stationary, he wasn't going fast just had no warning that there would be stationary traffic round the very tight bend. Luckily no cars on other side of road but large lorries drive on here all the time there's bound to be an accident and whilst I was sat there I was really scared for anything coming round the corner it was terrifying. Signs needed to instruct cars to slow or go 20mph, as when no cars in front of your braking how would you know!!!

Thank you for your report of 6 August 2023 relating to the roadworks just outside Crowden on the A628. We’re disappointed to hear that your experience using the A628 wasn’t what we would’ve hoped on this occasion.
We’ve investigated your report and can advise the works don't relate to one of our major projects or schemes. We’re always careful to ensure our projects and schemes across the region are well publicised, to ensure road users and local communities have as much time as possible to plan and prepare for any journeys they might have. You can find the projects and schemes in the Yorkshire and North Eastern region on our website here: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-roads/ yorkshire-and-north-east/ .
We can advise we’re also looking to improve this route in the future and are researching and investing time into gathering information and data on the Southern Trans-Pennine route to help us identify areas of improvement for road users. You can find more information on this here: https://nationalhighways.co.uk/ our-roads/ yorkshire-and-north-east/ southern-trans-pennine-improvements/ .
We’re aware these lights have been removed and hope that this improves your experience using this road in the future.
Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk. Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.
