Overgrown trees and bushes suppressing growth of wild flowers

Reported via mobile in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category by Oliver Tickell at 11:00, Thu 3 August 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4854549.

This is an established location for Pyramidal orchids, however the over growth of roadside trees and bushes on the west side of this ramp up to the bridge is inhibiting their growth and survival. Please could you cut the bushes back by at least 1 metre here and in the corresponding position on the west side of the bridge ?

  • Thank you for submitting this report.

Historically we have processes in place to manage our wildflower verges and these were delivered to tight annual deadlines and finances. With an increase in environmental awareness and habitat development, we are in ongoing discussions to expand and update our processes to incorporate these specific locations and their differing needs.

Obviously this takes time and until we have reached that moment, we are obliged to continue with the original processes required in our maintenance programmes.

    Kind regards National Highways
