Amount of litter on slip roads

The amount of litter on the exit and entry slip roads on the M2 Juntion 2 is appalling. There is tons of it and as the grass was recently cut back all you can see is litter. It has been there for months and months and really needs clearing up urgently.

    Litter is an important issue for National Highways, it's not only unsightly and a risk to wildlife but clearing it from the roadside exposes workers to significant risk. We are, alongside our contractors, committed to being a good neighbour, however, on this occasion we fell below the standards we expect. We have been on site and have reminded our contractors of the importance of respecting the environment and communities where they are working.

    We are currently in the process of planning additional work at this location to clear litter on the offside slip road under a future lane closure.
