Central reservation unswept for years, tree growing on concrete

Reported via desktop in the Overgrown or obscuring view (NH) category anonymously at 19:40, Wed 12 July 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4780572.

The a2 both ways between between bluewater and m25 turn off has sold concrete reservation. Just over the rumble strip are numerous tyre carcasses, which have been there for many months and numerous other objects that have fallen from cars and lorries. The dirt, gravel and dust have built up so deep that a 4 foot Sycamore tree has grown on carriageway and today when in traffic I found a 4 foot cherry tree, complete with cherries! These have taken years to grow this size and now have branches protruding over rumble strip.

Updates

  • We’re aware of the litter issues along the central reservation on both the London bound and coast bound carriageways in the area.

A job to clear this has already been raised and is currently outstanding. Due to this being a busy part of our network, this may take some time to obtain the official road space required, as full lane closures on both sides of the carriageway are needed to carry out the work.

In the meantime, our inspectors will continue to monitor the situation and raise any safety defects should any remedial works be needed.

    State changed to: Closed
