50mph for lane closure NOT required. There is no permanent works or signs highlighting what’s going on? Therefore I can only assume you’ve forgotten to re open the closed lane or put the live three lanes to a suitable speed as there is no risk to an empty lane of cones??

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the M3 junction 4 lane closures.

    We apologise for any ongoing delays as a result of undertaking structural surveys. This type of survey takes a while to organise and analyse but its important that we do this to prevent further disruption in the future.

    Whilst the lane 1 closure is in place a 50mph speed limit will be applied to the three open lanes to reflect a reduction in the lane capacity, in accordance with the traffic management standards.
