Road sign needed, foot of Oakwood Bank

Reported via desktop in the Sign issue (NH) category by John Law at 17:47, Mon 26 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4718721.

LAST JUNE I sent a message to you requesting a "No HGVs" sign at the foot of Oakwood Bank. Nothing happened. Then about 3 (4?) weeks ago such a sign appeared AT THE ST.JOHN LEE turnoff - not Oakwood Bank (which is now primarily signposted "Sandhoe"). I asked the men there if they'd picked the wrong turnoff, and was assured that they had not. My main point is that there WAS such a sign here before the new roundabout was built: Highways England removed it as part of the works, but did not replace it. My message from June 2022 was: "The exit to Oakwood Bank used to have a sign which warned that this road "is unsuitable for long vehicles". When the NEW roundabout was commissioned, this sign was not replaced: please could this be done ASAP. An HGV got stuck on Oakwood Bank (closing the road) last Thursday. "Not suitable" is an understatement: an HGV will get very badly stuck as soon as it starts up Oakwood Bank. "Preferably, there would be signs at the Oakwood exit from the roundabout AND a couple of miles higher up the hill at the Military Road, before there is any danger of HGVs entering this particular road network, all of which is unsuitable for HGVs." So can we PLEASE have that sign back for Oakwood Bank?
