Road closed at Marks Tey A12 Essex.

Reported via desktop in the Roadworks (NH) category anonymously at 18:38, Sun 25 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4714341.

The road works diversion just isn’t working. It took an hour to crawl 1 mile. I had broken down on this stretch of the road and the RAC couldn’t get to me because of this. There has to be a better way to keep traffic mo. For most of our journey we were at a standstill. Cars were overheating because of the stop start. Please please make it a better system for the next few weekends of closure.

Updates

  • Thank you for your email to our Customer Contact Centre regarding the A12 Marks Tey to Stanway reconstruction scheme.

We’d firstly like to apologise for the additional traffic in the area whilst we had our weekend closure of the A12 northbound between the junction 25 exit and entry slips. Considering the traffic and issues experienced by local residents and road users, we postponed the planned closure for the weekend just gone.

We carefully plan our roadworks and closures and our intention was always to minimise delays whilst we carried out this vital piece of the scheme but on this occasion, it didn’t go to plan.

After receiving feedback and analysing our approach, we are currently reviewing the plans for the upcoming weekend closures to try and make things better for everyone and ensure solutions are in place for the next time we come to close the road to rebuild the carriageway between these points.

Please continue to keep up to date with the latest information about the A12 Marks Tey to Stanway scheme at www.nationalhighways.co.uk/MarksTeytoStanway.

Thank you again for your email. If you would like any further information, please feel free to contact me. For anything else, please contact us by calling the 24/7 National Highways Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000 or email info@nationalhighways.co.uk.

    Kind regards National Highways
