Lack of clear signage on new road

Reported via mobile in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 11:28, Sat 24 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4711119.

The new road coming off the newly positioned Chiverton roundabout towards St Agnes is dangerously lacking signage. It is confusing for people travelling eastbound toward the roundabout whether it is single or dual carriageway and people are driving the wrong way down the slip road. This morning the car in front of me had to stop just as they turned onto the slipway because there was a car driving the wrong way in that lane. A near miss. I am aware that this has been reported before with dashcam footage clearly demonstrating a similar incident. This needs addressing urgently before an accident occurs.

This report is now closed to updates from the public. You can make a new report in the same location.

Updates

  • We can confirm that since your enquiry, w’ve modified the traffic management at the new Chiverton interchange, specifically the B3277.

Our changes include double white lines, additional carriageway signage and dolphin-type arrow road markings on the carriageway on the eastbound direction. We will continue to monitor the traffic flows and trend around the temporary road alignment at Chiverton interchange and will intervene where necessary.

We appreciate you raising the issue with us as our priority is getting our workforce and road users home safe and well.

    State changed to: Fixed
