Overgrown vegetation blocking public access

Reported via mobile in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) (NH) category anonymously at 08:11, Tue 20 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4692853.

Overgrown vegetation blocking public access on the A27, coming from Worthing towards Lancing on the South Downs side. The entire length between Lyons Farm and Halewick Lane. Vegetation is reaching over 6ft high and blocks a majority of the footpath as it grows, making it dangerous for both foot traffic and cycle traffic. Random branches of the vegetation stick out over the footpath, causing issues with bike wheels and legs, as well as upper torsos and eyes, some branches have thornes. This has been reported numerous times with no avail. Please cut it back to make it a safe access for the public. The path is becoming unusable.

  • Thank you for your report about the overgrown condition of the footpath. Our safety inspector has reviewed and while the majority of the footpath is passable, it has been raised with our contractors to carry maintenance.
