Traffic light timing/phasing is causing large tailbacks.

On the A4 beneath the Chiswick Flyover, at the roundabout by the Esso garage, the traffic light timing seems to have caused large tailbacks along the eastbound section of A4. Prior to this, there were massive tailbacks due to a lane being closed for construction work on the flyover. Even with all three lanes now open again, the traffic seems to be on a par with how it was when only two lanes were open. Before the works were carried out (and very briefly once work completed) on the flyover, traffic moved far more freely and there was much less congestion/slow moving traffic. The issue started when temporary traffic lights were installed. It makes no obvious sense to road users, and those who live around the area, why the new traffic light phasing has been retained when it very clearly makes the traffic situation worse along the A4. This goes against the Mayor's strategy of reducing congestion/pollution in Greater London.

The lights are still causing major issues along the A4 - the timings are clearly out - I would't imagine it would take a lot to remedy the situation and by doing so, would ease the traffic and the pollution and would stop drivers stressing out over unnecessary delays.

The lights by the roundabout under the A4 Chiswick Flyover are causing huge delays, as much as when the roadworks were in place. They appear to take around 4 times as long to cycle from red to green as they did previously. As a result of the adjusted timing, there is much more noise for local residents and emissions from stationary vehicles idling.Previously both east and west directions were go at the same time and north south could go at the same time (or near overlap). This is a roundabout junction and the light timings do not presently take this into consideration as they did previously.
Whoever reprogrammed them after the roadworks has made a complete hash of it. Even on a late evening or very early morning when there is hardly any traffic about there is a long delay getting through this junction. The resulting delay letting traffic through has created tailbacks past the next two or three sets of traffic lights on the A4 from west to east often tailing back to Gillette Corner in the mornings. Previously this would only be the case if there was an accident or roadworks.

Still not fixed. The timing on the red lights is almost 120 secs and green about 20 secs. This is causing so much traffic. Now another lane blocked today and long red light time causing even more delays. Shame they can not sort it and its almost more than two months now. Waste of time, so much pollution from stationary vehicles. It seems been done deliberate to harass motorists.

Please fix this issue urgently. I use this route daily and the new traffic lights are causing huge delays. This is now compounded further with roadworks and a closure of over of the lanes.

I can confirm that this is still an issue and it seems to be an issue all day, not just at peak times. I’ve been driving this route for 4 years and since the new traffic lights were installed by the Esso Garage the traffic problems are a lot worse. People have been reporting this issue to you for the past 3 months, any update you can provide would be appreciated.

This is still a problem. They have changed the sequence of the traffic lights. They used to 2 way light but now 3 or 4 way. They have also done this further up the great west rd at the junction of jersey rd. In the morning this can lead to an extra 15 mins in the morning. All this talk about reducing emissions but stationary vehicles cause more emissions. All these light sequences have been fine since day one. There was no need to change them. As with everything in this country its gone down hill!
