Lane markings into the roadworks M42 N/B just before J3

There seems to be a mix of old and new road markings as you enter the roadworks at this location, making it difficult to understand where to position your vehicle. Over the last few weeks I have driven through this location a number of times and it seems particularly bad in the morning due to the mix of light reflecting off lines that have been covered over, old lane markings that seem to remain and the new road markings being in place. Causing it to be unclear where the new temporary lanes are.
