Poor visibility when joining from Wix Road, due to over grown vegetation.

Reported via desktop in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) (NH) category anonymously at 21:13, Fri 16 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4682473.

The verge has grown so much and the farmer is growing crops very close to the road. the combination means that the visibility of cars joining the A120 from Wix road is poor for oncoming traffic, you can see skid marks on the road, presumably from cars rapidly breaking when a car joins the main road. In addition, when turning right, from wix road and joining the A120, the visibility is now very poor due to the over grown vegetation.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways about the overgrown verge on the A120 at the junction with Wix Road.

We carry out regular inspections of our roads and cut back trees and vegetation where we find that it’s limiting visibility of road signs, traffic signals, at junctions or the view ahead.

I’ve passed your observations to our maintenance team who have confirmed that they will be undertaking an interim cut of the area and that this will be included as part of this.

    Kind regards

    National Highways
