You had an accident about 4-5 weeks ago on the Orwell Bridge and lowered the already reduced speed limit (60) further to 40mph while on the bridge, this I presume was until you have repaired the two missing uprights on the Armco. Please advise when this issue will be resolved and the 40 mph returned to 60 mph as said previously the lower speed limit has been in place for 4-5 weeks now. Many thanks

Thank you for your report concerning the 40mph speed limit on Orwell Bridge. We’ll be carrying out work to replace the central reservation barrier across the A14 Orwell Bridge, which was badly damaged in a serious accident which occurred on the bridge on 9 May.
We plan to start this work Thursday 15 June and expect it to be completed, the road reopened to traffic and the speed limit across the bridge returned to 60mph by Saturday 17 June. All work will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.
Kind regards National Highways
