Massive backlog of traffic on M3
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4655296.
The notification of the closing of the M3 (at the Hook exit), was non existent until almost upon the point of closure! The illuminated sign seemed to indicate only lane reduction (to one lane), there was only one sign and it was past the point of no return, no exit until the actual roadworks. The result was thousands of cars and lorries in a queue for at least 1 1/2 hours, moving at a crawl at best! There was no traffic management present, just a closed road and traffic chaos!

This is still appalling. No lane filters or signs until 800m before J5 closure. So 3 lanes traffic trying to get into 1 lane to exit m3. Whi isn’t it cones from 3 to 2 then to 1 lane from Basingstoke? Why no signs from J7 & J6 warning closed and long delays at J5? Won’t make Father’s Day lunch ! Been between J6 &J5 for over 1 hr - disgraceful highway management ..
