Crumbling concrete.

Reported via mobile in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 22:22, Thu 8 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4649188.

In the under pass Whieldon Road Stoke on Trent under the A500. The concrete wall is crumbling. Due to the location it’s not safe to stop and do you an investigation. However due to the past flooding the concrete has been affected in my opinion. I would think that the steel reinforcing will be expanding with water ingress rusting and exploding the concrete.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning crumbling concrete.

Our inspector has reviewed this. Currently we are not concerned about the spalling concrete from a capacity point of view as it is superficial and isn't causing structural issues. We will continue to monitor this and arrange any work if necessary.
