Pole hole coming off A1 onto Galley Ln/Trotters Bottom

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 19:37, Thu 8 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4648764.

There is a pot hole coming off the A1 from Hatfield on the By-pass going to Galley Lane/Trotters Bottom. On the 29th May this pole hole gave me two slashed tyres on the left side of my car. There seems to always be some pot holes in this area as I use the roads often but this particular time and pot hole caught me off guard and I was unable to slow down due the fast traffic on the A1 behind me. I had to take a very dangeous journey to Kwik Fit in Potters Bar with my 1yr old where I needed two new tyres costing me £300.

Updates

  • On Friday 4th August, at 3:30pm I went over this pothole which has caused damage to my back left tyre when coming off the A1M onto galleys lane/trotters bottom towards Lewis of London ice cream farm. Who do I contact to claim for a new tyre as there has been a puncture since and a new tyre will be needed as I cannot keep topping it up with air each day. I also have dashcam footage of the sound made when hitting the pothole.
