Footpath obstructed
Reported via mobile in the Vegetation (grass/hedges/trees) (NH) category anonymously at 17:43, Wed 7 June 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4644054.
The public footpath that runs along side the EBC of the A63 between South Cave interchange to the gateway at Pinfold, South Cave, is completely overgrown with weeds and thistles and is impassable. The roadway in this area has just had a make over, perhaps you could look to sort the footpath out as well please. The appears to have been developing over the past few months.

Thank you for your email of 7 June 2023 about overgrown vegetation on the public footpath alongside the A63. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us about the issue.
We're aware of this footpath but it isn’t maintained as a standard footpath due to it only being an area of hardstanding. Where the official footpath ends, this has become an unofficial footpath, one that we cannot close off due to it being an area of relative safety should a vehicle breakdown.
We do maintain the vegetation along this hardstanding to a maximum of 2meters from the kerb edge, so roughly 1.4m behind the barrier. This should be maintained in a vertical direction as well as longitudinal but due to bird nesting we can't undertake cutting until late summer. Our Inspectors will visit the area and should they deem it to be overly grown, we will seek environmental permission to cut back the overhanging trees/bushes.
Routine maintenance in the form of vegetation clearance is due in June, so the area may well be strimmed in the next week if not already done so, with hedge strimming due in September.
Thank you again for contacting us. If there is anything we can help you with, please email or telephone our Contact Centre. They’re available 24 hours a day by phone: 0300 123 5000 or by email info@nationalhighways.co.uk Alternatively, please visit the National Highways website at nationalhighways.co.uk.
Kind Regards
