Dangerous U turn onto the A31

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 12:33, Thu 1 June 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4619111.

I had been travelling along the A31 from Ringwood towards the M27. I visited Furzey gardens. I came off the A31, found the route to the gardens, entailing a turn at a roundabout to take me back onto the A31 in the opposite direction. However, when I came to leave I wanted to rejoin the A31 back towards the M27. Signs and my satnav told me to go back onto the A31 towards Ringwood and do a u turn at a marked place. This I did, but I found trying to cross a dual carriageway with traffic going at 70mph extremely dangerous. Some cars were even going on the inside lane at more than 70mph. I was lucky not to get killed. Can an alternative route be signed to avoid such an occurrence, please?
