M1 junction 34 traffic light phasing

Reported via desktop in the Traffic lights (NH) category anonymously at 06:38, Wed 31 May 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4613201.

Since last week, the red phase on the lights on the entry from A631 Shepcote Lane has become much longer than usual, for no obvious reason. It was particularly noticeable yesterday; I finished work at 2 pm, and due to the congestion it took 15 minutes to drive the 200 yards from the site entrance to the roundabout.

Updates

  • Thank you for contacting us via FixMyStreet on 31 May 2023 regarding the traffic signals on Shepcote Lane, A631. We appreciate the time you've taken to get in contact with us.

The current problem in the area is due to Northern Power Grid who look after the mains supply in the area, they've an ongoing problem with supply. A back-up generator has been put in place to try and stop the loss of power which in turn causes the lights at Tinsley to go off. Which then requires an engineer to attend. We can confirm measures are in place that are currently monitoring this issue.
