Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning a lack of lighting on the M27 near Junction 1.

There is currently no lighting at this location and we have no evidence of prior lighting in the area that has been removed. This may be due to the proximity of the New Forest National Park, as artificial lighting in an ecologically significant area can disrupt wildlife behaviour and negatively affect the landscape. Junction 2 and approach roads are also unlit, likely for the same reason. The A31, B3079 and the roundabout under the M27 are the responsibility of Hampshire County Council and are currently not lit, so there is no requirement to provide lighting on the slip roads.
