Multiple dead beheaded deer on a120

Reported via desktop in the Dead animals (NH) category anonymously at 10:51, Sun 21 May 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4578614.

Multiple dead beheaded deer on a120 between m11 and freeport roundabout. This of how many beheaded animals I have seen on this road has been happening since November 2022. Is anything being done to try and locate the perpetrators? Ive lost count.

  • Thank you for informing our Customer Contact Centre about the animal carcasses on the A120 between Dunmow and Braintree. I appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. I appreciate how distressing it can be for our customers to see animal remains lying by the side of the road. We routinely remove such remains when they are found in the live carriageway and always endeavour to repatriate pets if their owners can be identified through microchip implant technology. Animal remains that lie further away from the carriageway itself are more difficult to routinely locate. Such carcasses are therefore only ordinarily removed if they present an ancillary hazard, or danger to public health. Thank you again for contacting us. If you feel this is a deliberate act against the wildlife in this location you should in the first instance report this to the police. Kind regards
