A14 bridge safety fence not repaired

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4577316.

The safety fence on the central reserve was damaged over a week ago as a result of a road traffic accident ; temporary repairs have been carried out and the Highways Agency was quoted in the local press to say that permanent prepairs would be carried out this week .The repairs are still outstanding. From the day that the bridge was opened iot was obvious that at some time it would be necessary to repair the barrier therefore the Highways Agency should havve spare components in stock. Please advise when repairs will be completed and why spare components were not in stock

  • Thank you for contacting National Highways regarding the repairs to the Orwell bridge. As you rightly state an accident occurred at this location and a temporary repair was made to the safety fencing that was damaged. Unfortunately the replacement fencing is bespoke to the bridge itself and therefore not held as a stock item. We aim to complete the repair by mid June 2023.
