Faulty speed camera towards Heathrow M4 after junction 7
Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 13:37, Sat 20 May 2023
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4576875.
I was travelling along the M4 this morning just past Junction 7 towards Junction 6, at around 4:30am (20/05/23), there was motorway road works, so the motorway was down to one lane and a speed restriction of 40mph, the speed camera (fixed speed camera) seemed to flash every car that went under, I was in the correct lane and driving at 40mph.

Hi, I have experienced exactly the same issue on the 9th of March shortly after midnight. Received the letter from Thames Valley Police regarding this matter. Was the issue actually fixed since that time?

Just write a letter to Thames Valley police with your version of events. I have done it myself and didn't hear from them since. No further action and (unfortunatelly) no clear message that the case was dismissed. Just in case, keep the video recording. Good luck and let's hope someone from TVP read them posts 👍

I was served a notice on 20/9/24 driving at 70mph M4 2390A J6-7 when a temporary 60mph variable limit was supposedly in place. The notice came like 10 days later so no dash cam footage either.

I was driving on the M4 junction 6/7 Eastbound on the 21/08/24 at 14:55. National speed limit applied, no restrictions on any sings was present but have been served a penalty notice of 57mph. I had the notice come to me last week. So I do not have any dash cam footage unfortunately. Looking at the comments above someone has had the same notice at similar time on 21/08/24

Got a letter from police stating I was doing 26/36mph on 2 different days. 26th/28th. The camera was flashing everyone that went past. Why hasn't highways or police caught up with the posts above. Clearly there's a problem. Big headache replying back to police and appealing it. The least highways can do is contact police to tell them there's a problem and to stop sending tickets out and secondly fix or remove that camera. No one wants to have a panic attack opening police letters.

I received a letter from the police indicating that I was doing 39/40 mph on the 28th near junction 6-7 eastbound. The camera flashed at everyone who passed. Why haven't roadways and police caught up to the posts above? Clearly there is a problem. It was a huge headache to respond to the police and appeal. The least highways can do is contact police to report the problem and cease issuing tickets, and then fix or remove the camera. Nobody wants to experience a panic attack while opening police letters.

Just received a notice of intended prosecution for the alleged offence of 57mph in the variable speed limit of 50mph at M4-2390A between Junction 6-7 westbound
I am adamant I was not speeding as I had received two notices earlier in the year and been doing 3mph less than the shown speed everywhere I go.
Shocked to get this letter from Thames Valley police. I don’t have dashcam footage but reading all these reports makes me think there is a problem with their camera system around this area.

Hello All, Has anyone had any updates or feedback from the Thames Police? I have received a notice where I was travelling on the M4 junction 6/7 Westbound on the 05/12/2024 apparently travelling at 80mph in a 70mph. The weather during this day was torrential due to the incoming storm so I know with confidence I was travelling at the 70mph speed limit. Any advice would be grateful please.

Hi Everyone, Has anyone had any updates or feedback from the Thames Police?
I have received a notice that I was travelling on the M4 junction 6/7 Westbound on 06/12/2024 at 58mph in a variable 50mph zone. The weather during this day was torrential due to the incoming storm, I had just received my new car (on the same day so was very cautious) and don't think there were any temporary restrictions on the day. So, I can confidently say that I was travelling within the speed limit. Any advice would be grateful, please.
