Delay caused by roadworks

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4572427.

Driving from Coventry to Whiteley was appalled at the length of roadworks on a major road A34 through Oxford with one lane closed through Oxford and past Hinksey/ Botley , at 19.30 18th May 2023 , to my horror there were only 5 workmen drilling holes on a bridge !!?? Do you really need to put out miles of cones and cause a 10 mile tailback to action work in such a small area , does anyone look at the impact this has on road users and the stress it causes. Surely this work could be actioned at a more convenient time ? what ever happened to overnight working when the roads are not as busy . This added at least 45 minutes to my journey which I feel at that time of night is unacceptable. I would appreciate your comments .
