No Entry sign for exit slip road faded

Reported via desktop in the Road markings (NH) category anonymously at 21:04, Tue 16 May 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4563158.

I had a very near accident on this slip road when I was exiting the A23 and a BMW was coming up the exit slip road (the exit, not entry slip road) and got a shock when they came face to face with me. They luckily noticed their error and turned around. I noticed the road markings for no entry have really faded. This is a confusing junction if you don't know the layout and clearly this is causing people to take the wrong road. Repainting the no entry would help make it safer.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning the incident of poor driver behaviour when using the slip road.

That said, our inspector has reviewed the location and whilst the majority of the road marking are in excess of 60% visible he has requested that some more faded lane 1 marking are highlighted for refreshment. There are also 2 clearly visible No Entry Signs.

Our inspector has reviewed this. Currently this isn’t causing any safety concerns, we will continue to monitor this and will arrange any required work if the situation changes.

    Kind regards
