Bumpy carriageway

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 15:48, Mon 15 May 2023

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4557140.

Drop in carriageway level next to bridge expansion joint over the M23 on Green Lane. Settlement of the sub-base appears to have pulled the carriageway from the expansion joint on the west side of the bridge. The east expansion joint have been covered with asphalt and has a significant dip.

Updates

  • Thank you for your report concerning the expansion joints to the bridge over the M23 on Green Lane.

We last carried out a principal inspection to this structure on 11 February 2023 which confirmed that the expansion joints are in good condition with no evident change in level, even with the overlay of the east joint as reported.

Our inspection photo's of the carriageway in general, from the west end, do indeed show a minor dip in the carriageway immediately west of the structure. which is likely due to the road construction itself rather than the structure. This lies with the local authority, Surrey County Council.

    Kind regards
