Not fit for purpose!!!

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4548704.

Inside lane of the stretch of the A180 from where the concrete road surface begins near the B1211, to Barnetby Interchange with the M180. Rough, rutted, badly repaired road, that is no longer fit for purpose. Car breakingly bad!!! Driving on this every day as part of a commute is a nightmare, only use the inside lane of this stretch when absolutely forced as do not wish to damage my car!! It is easily visible that the traffic that does use it gets thrown around when travelling on this surface which is super super bad!! National Highways should be ashamed of leaving it in this condition, it has been this way for several years!!! Just disgusting!! Additonally, the thousands of cars and lorries that travel this route every day are causing far more pollution than necesssary as they have to work much harder to battle their way along it. Its disgusting!! Needs digging up!!!!!!

    We carry out daily patrols and inspections on the network and any issues found are noted, categorised and dealt with accordingly. Our inspectors haven't reported any dangerous areas for concern in this area upon checking however we're aware there are general surface issues on the A180. There are uneven road board signs in place to highlight the issue and we are looking into a more permanent solution for the future.

  • This couple of miles stretch of westbound inside lane of the A180 which i reported is a white knuckle ride if you drive the inside lane at 70mph. It would eventually break your car if you did this daily. I and many others therefore use the outside lane for this 2 mile stretch, because National Highways can't be bothered to fix it!!!!! National Highways say its not that bad!!!! Obviously their daily patrols/inspections are not doing their job as its bloody awful at best. Its not fit for purpose and is dangerous. There are multiple repaired gouges in the surface from where it has caused lorry blowouts. These repairs make the surface worse than ever. Another example of National Highways negligence
