Variable speed camera

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 4538338.

All the variable speed cameras are showing 40mpg. There is No wind and no obstruction so why does the traffic have to go from 60 mph to 40 mph

  • Thank you for contacting our Customer Contact Centre regarding the reduced speed limits on the Orwell bridge. The speed limit is currently reduced for safety reasons after an incident that damaged 100 meters of safety fencing. Unfortunately this fencing is bespoke to the bridge structure and therefore we have had to order from the manufactures. Subsequently the reduced speed limit will be in place for some time until a repair can be made. We appreciate this may be frustrating for road user who use this route frequently however the safety of our road users is paramount. Kind regards National Highways
